Planning: During my planning I came up with the idea of doing a lady bug on a leaf. I thought it would be a good project to represent fall. I started out by using pictures found online to help me sketch my idea out. Once I got the right drawing I traced it onto my clay slabs.
In Progress: The hardest part of the projet was beginnig my slab. I started by carving into my slab to make the leaf stand out, then I add to the carved out leaf to make the lady bug since thw lady buf was the focus point.
Finished Project: This was the first time I had done a relief piece besides my mini project. The larger piece was a lot more difficult than the mini piece, but the mini piece helped me learn techniques. I think this piece was very succesful especially the leaf. The vibrant colors make the piece really pop. If I were to change anything in my piece I would redo the backround because it was suppose to be a shiney glaze, but it didn't work out as well as I planned.
