My most challenging project was my figure project. The owl I made was by far my most rewarding project, but due to all the steps involved was my most difficult project. I had never used plaster before, so using a medium I was unfamiliar with was one challenge I faced. Another issue I had with this project was the amount of time it involved to create this problem. I easily got bored with the project because at times it was hard to vision what the final piece would look like. Once I really started working on the project and got past the boring and challenging stage of plaster I was able to enjoy the project more. Now it is one of my favorite projects I have done in the class.
I wish I would've used the pottery wheel more. I used the wheel a couple times, but because I was caught up in other projects I was unable to use it as much as I wanted. In the couple times I used the wheel I was unable to master the technique needed to perfect making clay pieces. I should have tried uses the wheel earlier in the year, and maybe I wouldn't have been so caught up in finishing my projects.
If I were to create another project I would have students create art using food. I think it would cool to make a moral out of like jelly beans or skittles. Also there was a painting the art room one day that a student used strawberries as paint. You could also bake a cake into a cool shape like the one student made a butt cake. It would be fun to have critique on your work then be able to eat your work with the class afterwards.
