The everyday object project was my first painting using oils, and it required a bit of a learning curve at first. Though we had practiced with the apples it took me a while getting use to color blocking first before blending. Not being able to layer with oils was hard to grasp at first, but the more donuts I kept doing the more I perfected using oil paints. I choose to do the donuts because I thought it could turn out to be bright and fun with the colors in the sprinkles and icing. My favorite donut is the crueler because of the depth in the ridges. My most challenging donut was the chocolate donut with green icing because it took a lot of care to not mix the colors. The main donut at first looked like a giant pink ring to me, but when I later added the sprinkles the donut seemed more complete and the painting as a whole seemed more vibrant. By far the most challenging part of the entire piece was the hand. I put off the hand for a very long time because I hate human anatomy, but overall like how it turned out. I really enjoyed my first oil painting and plan to do a lot of my future projects in oil paints.
